WWE Champ Brock Lesnar is the UFC's New Hope

Brock Lesnar, former University of Minnesota wrestling champion, WWE superstar, professional football player (Minnesota Vikings), is going to fight former UFC champ Frank Mir Saturday Night.
Lesnar was 106-5 in 4 years as a college wrestler and won 1 Division I National Championship in 2000. He became a World Wrestling Entertainment superstar and champion, and also spent 2 years in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings.
Most of the Ultimate Fighting Club members have some sorta of successful wrestling background. Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Matt Hughes, Roger Huerta and Tito Ortiz all have wrestling backgrounds and have been quite successful in the UFC.

The jury is still out on Lesnar. Can he be the next big draw in the UFC? I think so, but who am I? Brock Lesnar is a rock, a specimen. I can't see anyone surviving if he takes them to the matt. Obviously, this Saturday night will be the first step in his career by facing Frank Mir. A dominant victory would propel Lesnar to the level of the Liddell's and Ortiz's from a fans perspective.

I would pay and will be to watch this fight and I will say that Brock Lesnar will win by knockout! What do you think?

This is a tough fight to call simply because no one knows enough yet about Lesnar's MMA ability. We've seen only just over a minute of fight footage of lesnar.

This footage pretty much summed up what I think Lesnar will be trying to do against Mir, and that's take him down and pound him out.

Big questions here: When Lesnar takes Mir down (cuz he will), has he learned enough Jiu Jitsu to avoid Mir's submission attempts? Will Mir's conditioning become a factor in the later rounds? Will Lesnar succomb to the UFC jitters and buckle under the pressure of being one of the UFC's biggest draws ever?

I'm going to predict Mir by submission, but for me it could go either way. I don't see Lesnar finishing Mir in this fight but I could see him pinning Mir on his back and pounding out the decision.

It's a tough call. Especially when you have guys of this size, either man can be knocked out if they get caught.

It's gonna be interesting! I can't wait.

i think he will knock him out once he gets him on his back! So, I kind of agree, but does he know enough of the submission moves and counters to stay alive? Will be worth watching.
you have a good blog going here. i look forward to reading them and voting on your polls, plus the did u know has a nice touch too.

ryan, i agree w/u some too. especially about pounding him out.
i also agree with the ? about his jiu jitsu skills. i guess that is why it will be worth the money to watch this fight.
